Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking volunteers to help run the butter making station or set up tables, or direct traffic and people. Your help with this fabulous day is critical towards the smooth operation of Ag Day. Without the help of volunteers, like yourself, Ag Day could not continue. Please reach out to me. If you or if someone that you know could help us with this, please give me a call (207)778-4279 or email me. franklincswcd@yahoo.com

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF AG DAY

Ag Day will be held the first Monday of the Farmington Fair.

Franklin County 2nd and 4th graders only.

Ag Day will run continuously from 9 a.m. to 1230 p.m. or until lack of attendance at the station.

Chaperones and Homeschoolers please make sure you bring your gate pass to show at the maple street entrance please park your vehicle in the center parking area. (Follow the fair staff directing you on where to park)

Students with teachers or chaperones should arrive around 9:00 a.m. and leave stations for lunch no later than 12:30 and fairgrounds between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Please stress that everyone is respectful of the animals, volunteer workers, working K9’s and the fairground property. In addition, for safety reasons, attention should be paid to the vehicles traveling to and from the parking lot.

DROP OFF OF ALL STUDENTS AND ALL DISTRICTS SHOULD BE AT THE FAR END OF THE FIELD AND NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT.

Registration will be set up near bus drop off.

The program has been designed on a schedule to allow each chaperoned group of students to visit educational learning stations throughout the designated areas of the fair ground where volunteers will be doing demonstrations, presenting educational information, providing samples of agricultural products, and/or offering a hands-on activity. K9’s will be providing up to 2 shows (10am & 11am) with a break for the K9 in between. If you should arrive after the demonstration has already started, please be mindful to not disrupt the working K9’s and their handlers. I am sorry but due to a misbehaving student in 2024, Smokey the Bear will No Longer attend Ag Day, this is best to protect our volunteer presenters.

ALL STUDENTS MUST BE WITH AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES!

Presenters will start closing their stations once students visiting slows to almost a stop for more than 10 minutes. Therefore, if there is a station you really want to visit, plan to go there before lunch as it might be closed when you come back.

Students have to bring their own lunch or have a bag lunch provided by the school. Lunch will be any time after 12:30. Stations will close when the students go to lunch.
